The Maker Educator Convening is an annual gathering of maker education practitioners from all over the world, organized by Maker Ed. This year, the event will take place in Pittsburgh, PA, in collaboration with MuseumLab at Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh. We are committed to further exploring last year’s themes—equity, accessibility, and sustainability in maker education—over two full days of sharing, collaboration, and delicious food. Matt Zigler is the coordinator of the Bullis Innovation and Technology Lab (BITlab) at Bullis School in Potomac, MD. He has worked in K-12 education for 18 years as an art teacher, administrator and Makerspace coordinator. In addition to teaching making courses such as Making for Social Good and Iteration and Design, Matt assists teachers in core content classes to design and execute hands on projects in the Makerspace to replace tests or papers.
